Prep football Hawks, Mavs, Warriors and Royals ready to kick off season Friday

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The 2025 prep football season kicks off on September 5 with all four Edmonds School District teams competing. The Mountlake Terrace Hawks, aiming to extend a streak of three consecutive winning seasons, return a senior-heavy roster under Coach Archie Malloy, who believes this year's team is well-prepared for success. Key players include senior tight end Nate Brown and junior quarterback Mason Wilson, both of whom bring significant experience. In contrast, the Meadowdale Mavericks, led by Coach Antwoine Gamble, seek to build on last year's progress after a challenging four seasons. With a record of 8-27 over the past four years, Meadowdale is seeing a resurgence in interest, with 100 players currently on the roster.

The Mavericks will rely on their ground game, featuring All-Wesco League second-team running back Cayden Rivera. Both teams will look to establish themselves early in the season, with critical matchups set for Friday. Their performance could impact community support and future recruitment efforts.
