Teen Talk Youth making an impact on arts community

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Alex Dwyer, a 12-year-old sixth grader, actively supports the arts through volunteering at Heart Art Studio, where he helps young children with various art projects. He also participated in the grand opening of the Mountlake Terrace light rail station, running the Heart Art Healing booth. Dwyer believes that art not only fosters creativity but also enhances community expression. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Lucy Myers, a senior at Edmonds-Woodway High School, engages in the local theater scene, earning service hours through her work with the Edmonds Driftwood Players. She has taken on multiple roles, including house manager, and finds value in experiencing the arts from different perspectives.

Both teens emphasize the importance of arts involvement for personal growth and community bonding. Their dedication highlights a broader trend among Gen Z, who prioritize experiences over material possessions. By championing the arts, they contribute to a thriving cultural landscape in Seattle.
