Art Beat Young writers story time in Edmonds, orca film and more on Whidbey Island

Oliver Popa, a 7-year-old author, will host a story time at Edmonds Bookshop on July 25, reading his cheerful picture book “Drippey Plants a Garden. ” After the reading, he will lead a fun coloring activity and sign copies of his book, engaging the audience in a unique way. This event showcases the remarkable achievement of a young author, supported by his mother Whitney Popa, a member of the local business community. On July 26, Whidbey Island will feature a day of activities, starting with a screening of “Orcas – Life in Black and White,” presented by local filmmaker Florian Graner. The film provides an intimate look at orca cultures in the Salish Sea, followed by a hike in Putney or Saratoga Woods.

Participants will conclude the day with dinner at a local restaurant, fostering community connections. This series of events highlights both literary and environmental awareness, making it a valuable experience for attendees. The involvement of local figures like Oliver and Florian enriches the cultural fabric of the area.
