Oliver Popa, a 7-year-old author, will host a story time at Edmonds Bookshop on July 25, reading his cheerful picture book “Drippey Plants a Garden. ” After the reading, he will lead a fun coloring activity and sign copies of his book, engaging the audience in a unique way. This event showcases the remarkable achievement of a young author, supported by his mother Whitney Popa, a member of the local business community. On July 26, Whidbey Island will feature a day of activities, starting with a screening of “Orcas – Life in Black and White,” presented by local filmmaker Florian Graner. The film provides an intimate look at orca cultures in the Salish Sea, followed by a hike in Putney or Saratoga Woods.

Participants will conclude the day with dinner at a local restaurant, fostering community connections. Father jailed after 4-year-old accidentally shoots mother in unincorporated Lynnwood

A 44-year-old man was arrested in Lynnwood after his 4-year-old son accidentally shot the boy's mother with an unsecured firearm. The woman, 42, suffered a serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her arm and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. The child retrieved the weapon from his sleeping father, who faces charges of reckless endangerment and unlawful storage of a firearm.
