A Discover Pass will cost more Oct. 1, but you can access one for free with your library card

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Effective Oct. 1, the price of a Discover Pass in Washington state will rise from $35 to $45, the first adjustment since its 2011 launch. The Washington State Legislature approved the increase to help parks cope with inflation and streamline services. Sno-Isle Libraries allows library cardholders to check out Discover Passes for free, which can be borrowed for two weeks and renewed if there are no holds. Disabled veterans qualify for a Lifetime Disabled Veteran’s pass, ensuring they continue to enjoy free camping after the price increase.

However, any reservations made or altered after Oct. 1 will incur processing fees. This change aims to sustain park operations amid rising costs. Additionally, the library’s collection includes books on Washington’s parks and trails, aiding in trip planning for all ages. Access to state parks and wildlife areas with a Discover Pass remains a valuable resource for residents and visitors alike.
