Why August is such a busy month for the Hygiene Center

The Jean Kim Foundation's Hygiene Center in Lynnwood logged 1,068 showers in August 2023, making it the busiest month for its services. Director Sandra Mears highlighted that individuals experiencing homelessness are at increased risk for heat-related illnesses during the summer months. The center's second-highest month was October, with 874 showers recorded. To aid those in need, Simply the Basics granted the center 10,000 SPF 30 lip balms and band-aid kits, marking a significant step in providing essential hygiene resources. The Hygiene Center operates from 10 a.

m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday, offering showers, food, and clothing, and has become a vital resource in the community. Local churches and agencies also contribute by providing hot meals and services to visitors.

Donations of hygiene products, clothing, and food are encouraged to support the center's mission. The center previously served as a vehicle emissions testing facility before being repurposed to address community needs.
