Skandia hosting First and Third Friday folk dances in July at Cedar Valley Grange

Lynnwood, WALocal News

Skandia Folk Dance Society is set to host two folk dances at Cedar Valley Grange in Lynnwood during July. The First Friday Dance on July 4, from 7:30 to 10:30 p. m. , will feature Elaine and Paul Everitt teaching reinlender variants, a Norwegian dance similar to Sweden's schottis. Admission is free for all musicians and dancers, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.

The Third Friday Dance on July 18 costs $15, or $10 for Skandia members, with Harry Khamis and Pat Pi teaching Kalle P. vals, a favorite among Scandinavian dancers. This dance has evolved with two additional parts added recently, enhancing its complexity. Hale Bill and the Bopps will provide music for the event, along with the participation of ex-Seattleite fiddler Ingrid Hamberg. These dances aim to strengthen community ties through cultural engagement.
