Spark! Creativity inaugural fundraiser celebrates future of arts education

On June 28, the Cascadia Art Museum hosted its inaugural Spark! the Future fundraiser, focusing on supporting arts education for underserved youth. The event featured a silent auction with items generously donated by organizations throughout Washington, along with local food and beverages. Tanya Sharp, founder of Spark! Creativity, emphasized the nonprofit's mission to provide high-quality arts education, highlighting its impact on over 400 students in its first year.

Mona T. Smiley-Fairbanks, an artist involved in the program, shared her insights on the importance of creative expression in education, stating, "It's always about working with the children just to see the light in their eyes. " Sharp expressed gratitude to teaching artists and sponsors, stressing the urgent need for accessible arts programs in schools. The evening showcased the potential of creative education to transform lives and foster confidence in students. As arts programs face diminishing support across Washington state, Spark!
