Lynnwood, WALocal News

On July 12, Councilmember Nate Nehring will lead a Youth Beach Cleanup at Kayak Point Park from 10 a. m. to noon, targeting youth engagement in environmental stewardship. This community event encourages families and individuals to come together to promote civic responsibility and appreciation for nature. Volunteers will receive gloves, garbage bags, and light refreshments while learning from WSU Beach Watchers, a program dedicated to marine education and environmental care.

Kayak Point Park, with its beach and trails, is a cherished location for recreational activities in Snohomish County. The cleanup aims to instill a sense of responsibility among young participants, demonstrating how simple actions like litter collection can lead to significant environmental benefits. Nehring emphasizes that this initiative fosters community connections and serves as a stepping stone toward lifelong conservation efforts. The event welcomes various groups including scout troops and student clubs. Interested participants can sign up by contacting Nehring's office for more details.
