PAWS takes in dogs displaced by California wildfires

Lynnwood, WALocal News

PAWS in Lynnwood welcomed three dogs on Friday, part of a larger flight relocating over 100 shelter pets from wildfire-affected Southern California. This effort, organized by Greater Good Charities, aims to ease the burden on local shelters by moving animals to regions with greater adoption potential. Upon arrival at Paine Field, volunteers transported the dogs to the PAWS Companion Animal Center, where they will receive evaluations and necessary medical care. Jennifer Convy, senior director at PAWS, highlighted their commitment to providing second chances for pets in need. This initiative marks the third such flight by Greater Good in response to wildfire disasters, addressing the ongoing challenges faced by local shelters.

Increased pet surrenders in the aftermath of the wildfires have strained resources significantly. In addition to PAWS, several other Washington and Oregon rescues received pets from this flight, expanding the reach of this important effort. The relocation not only helps individual animals but also supports the broader animal welfare community in affected areas.
