The Washington State Department of Transportation is set to launch the WE-Bike program, offering residents a two-week window to apply for e-bike rebates starting April 9. With more than $4 million in funding, the initiative aims to make e-bikes and eligible accessories more financially accessible, providing either $300 or $1,200 rebates based on income eligibility. Officials anticipate distributing approximately 10,000 rebates to qualifying residents, reflecting strong local interest in sustainable transportation options. The WE-Bike program website will be available in both English and Spanish, helping applicants navigate eligibility and application procedures easily. Customer service agents will be ready to assist those needing help, enhancing the overall accessibility of the program.

Beyond the rebate applications, the website offers valuable resources, including safety tips and maintenance advice for e-bike users. "Everyone can benefit from this webpage, no matter if they receive a rebate," stated Adele Peers, program manager for WE-Bike. Funded through the Climate Commitment Act revenues in the 2023-25 transportation budget, this pilot program emphasizes Washington's commitment to promoting active transportation.
