Incumbent city councilor Brian Wayson emerged as the top vote-getter in the council race, securing 1,774 votes, while newcomer Tonja Fortney, a local property manager, received 1,654 votes. Hoffman, a senior solar energy consultant, has been involved in local government for 14 years and cited recent property tax law changes as a significant concern impacting budget and services. Fortney, new to elected office, emphasized the necessity for affordable housing to keep pace with the city's growth. Wayson, who has served on the council for six years, also noted the challenges posed by reduced property tax revenue.
