The resolution addresses immigration restrictions, the rollback of LGBTQ+ protections, and alterations to environmental and healthcare policies. Specific orders mentioned include "Securing Our Borders" and "Preventing Woke AI in the Federal Government. " Supervisor V Fixmer-Oraiz stated that the board received numerous requests from constituents to take a formal stance on these actions. Additionally, the resolution's language was updated to note that many actions were taken under Emergency Authority granted by Congress, which includes Iowa's congressional delegation.

Fixmer-Oraiz highlighted the staggering impacts these policies have on the local community. Johnson County had earlier passed a resolution specifically protecting LGBTQ+ members, and Iowa City leaders followed suit.
