SR 529 Overnight Closures This Week To Stripe New Roundabout

Everett, WALocal News

The construction of new ramps connecting State Route 529 and Interstate 5 is on track for completion, leading to scheduled nightly closures from June 9 to June 12. Northbound SR 529 drivers will detour via the on-ramp to northbound I-5 to reach Marysville, while southbound traffic will take I-5 to access Everett. The Washington State Department of Transportation's contractor crews will use these closures to apply final striping near the new roundabout located just south of Ebey Slough. This roundabout is designed to improve traffic flow, allowing vehicles to transition between I-5 and SR 529 more efficiently. The work is contingent on weather conditions, with rain potentially causing delays, but current forecasts suggest dry weather through Friday.

The roundabout and new ramps are expected to open in July, enhancing connectivity in the region. This project aims to alleviate congestion and improve safety for motorists in the area. The improvements reflect ongoing efforts by state transportation officials to upgrade critical infrastructure.
