Everett Firefighters extinguished a fire at Wiggums Hollow Park in Everett, WA, around 9:30 a. m. this morning, damaging the newly installed playground equipment. Upon arrival, firefighters found the main play structure fully engulfed in flames after receiving multiple 911 calls. Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed her heartbreak over the incident, highlighting the playground's importance to local families since its grand re-opening in June 2024.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, but the play area will remain closed until further notice while the cause is investigated. Investigators are considering foul play, given the wet weather conditions at the time of the fire. The Everett Fire Marshal's Office and Police Department are conducting a joint investigation and are appealing for information from the public.
