PUD TREE Power Program Seeking Applicants

Everett, WALocal News

Snohomish County PUD is accepting applications for its TREE Power program until June 10, which funds tree-planting projects to enhance energy efficiency in urban environments. Grants of $7,500 to $15,000 will cover costs for trees, maintenance, and related supplies. John Hoffman, PUD Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the program's role in reducing summer cooling demands while beautifying neighborhoods. The initiative follows a successful pilot in which three cities—Arlington, Everett, and Mukilteo—received funding for similar projects. The American Public Power Association provides the grants specifically for tree planting on publicly accessible land.

Eligible applicants include government, quasi-government, and non-profit organizations. Interested individuals can apply, donate to future projects, and access additional resources on the PUD website. The program aims to promote energy efficiency and improve community aesthetics through increased tree coverage.
