Unresponsive Employee Rescue on Ship Under Repair

Everett Fire responded to a report of an unresponsive employee on a ship docked at the Port of Everett, where coworkers initiated CPR and used an AED before help arrived. Firefighters discovered the patient in a confined space behind the boiler and quickly revived him, restoring his pulse. They employed a Stokes basket to safely extricate the patient from the ship, which had multiple levels, ensuring a secure short-haul rescue. The entire operation from initial contact to transport lasted about 50 minutes. The patient was then taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Everett Fire commended the coworkers for their quick actions, emphasizing the importance of immediate CPR and AED use. This incident underscores the critical role of teamwork in emergency situations. The effective response not only saved a life but also highlights the need for training in emergency preparedness among employees.
