Two Kids Painting Graffiti Shot Monday Night in South Everett

On Monday evening, deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at the Gateway Apartments in South Everett, where two boys were shot. The victims, a 17-year-old and an 11-year-old, were involved in graffiti painting when a 20-year-old male suspect approached and opened fire. The 11-year-old remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, while the 17-year-old was treated at Providence Regional Medical Center and released. After fleeing the scene, the suspect was located nearby on a motorized scooter, where he discarded a handgun before surrendering. He has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail for two counts of first-degree assault.

Detectives suspect gang involvement in the shooting, emphasizing its serious implications for community safety. This incident highlights ongoing issues with youth violence and gang activity in the area. The investigation remains active as authorities seek further information.
