Everetts Martin Lumber Shuts Down after 75 Years

Everett, WALocal News

Martin Lumber True Value in downtown Everett closed its doors after 75 years of service to the community. Established in 1950 by Jim Martin, the lumberyard was a staple for local residents and builders undertaking home projects. The decision to shut down came after True Value's bankruptcy filing in 2024, which created supply challenges for its 4,500 franchisees. The owners were ready to retire after a difficult year, ending a legacy of helpful service. An auction for the business has been scheduled from October 23 to October 30, 2025, with a preview available on October 29.

The closure not only affects the owners but also the local community that relied on the store's knowledgeable staff. Martin Lumber's location at 2730 Broadway served as a convenient hub for remodeling and construction needs. This significant transition highlights the broader challenges facing independent retailers amid corporate struggles.
