Drive Through USPS Mail Collection Box Removed in Downtown Everett

Everett, WALocal News

The USPS has removed the blue mail collection box at the Downtown Everett location, which has frustrated local customers who relied on it for convenient drop-offs. Patrons received various explanations from USPS employees, including that packages were blocking the box and that it might not be replaced. Customers must now park and enter the facility to drop off mail, which poses challenges for those used to the drive-through service. Similar removals have been noted at locations in Lynnwood and Mill Creek, raising concerns about the accessibility of mail services. The parking lot at the Hoyt location is often full, making this change particularly inconvenient.

Some employees mentioned that the removal was directed by "Headquarters," with no clear indication if the box will return. Community members hope for a reinstatement of the drive-through option, which has been a staple for decades. The USPS has not clarified if more secure or tamper-resistant boxes will replace the removed ones.
