Everett Fire responds to fatal apartment fire

The Everett Fire Department responded to a fire at a four-plex apartment complex in Everett, WA, on January 28, 2025, shortly before 9:40 p. m. Neighbors reported flames coming from a window, prompting a swift response from fire crews. Upon entering the bottom-floor unit, they found an unresponsive adult female and began CPR immediately. Despite their dedicated efforts lasting over 45 minutes, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes, preventing further damage or displacement of other residents. The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the fire's cause, while the Everett Police Department is handling the fatality inquiry as per standard protocol. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the deceased's identity and determine the cause of death. In light of this tragedy, the Everett Fire Department reminded the community of the critical role of functioning smoke alarms in fire safety and offers free installations for low-income households, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
