Retailers on High Alert After Shoplifters Confronted by Everett Antique Store

Everett, WALocal News

A wave of shoplifting incidents has hit antique stores in Snohomish and Skagit Counties, with local businesses banding together to combat the issue. The Badanac crime family, an organized group primarily made up of Romani criminals, has been identified as the source of these thefts, which have resulted in significant financial losses for store owners. Bryan McClimans, the owner of Second Chance Antiques in Everett, took action after recognizing the suspects during their second visit. He confronted them directly, presenting evidence of their previous thefts, which led to their departure from his store. This crime ring uses distraction tactics, often involving multiple members and children, to overwhelm staff while they steal.

Community efforts are underway to warn other businesses about these scammers, as they tend to target multiple locations simultaneously. The Facebook group, Street Scammer Watch, has been instrumental in identifying these criminals and sharing surveillance footage. As the situation develops, local retailers are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
