Port of Everett Begins 6.75 Million Marina Bulkhead Wharf Rebuild

Everett, WALocal News

The Port of Everett Commission has awarded a $6. 75 million contract to Bergerson Construction for the final phase of bulkhead replacement at the Port of Everett Marina. Scheduled to begin in early September, the project will replace 165 lineal feet of aging wooden bulkhead with steel piles, enhancing the stability of State Route 529/West Marine View Drive. This vital infrastructure supports thousands of daily commuters and military operations, with the area experiencing 11,361 average daily trips in 2023. Southbound traffic will face lane reductions, while public access will be rerouted during the construction period.

Port Executive Director Lisa Lefeber emphasized the project's significance for trade and public safety. The bulkhead replacement is part of a larger initiative that began in 2005, with Segment E being the last of 2,900 total lineal feet to be replaced. The project also includes the reconstruction of the overwater wharf to improve pedestrian access to the waterfront trail. Funding comes from Port revenues, federal sources, and the Washington state capital budget, with additional federal support secured to offset costs.
