Everett Fire responds to fatal apartment fire

On January 28, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p. m. , the Everett Fire Department responded to a fire at a four-plex apartment complex located on Grand Avenue. Neighbors reported flames, and upon arrival, firefighters found an unresponsive adult female in a bottom-floor unit. Despite the immediate efforts of paramedics, who performed CPR for over 45 minutes, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire crews successfully extinguished the fire within 15 minutes, preventing further damage to neighboring apartments, and fortunately, no other residents were displaced. The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause and origin of the fire, while the Everett Police Department handles the related fatality investigation. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the deceased's identity and investigate the cause of death. This tragic incident serves as a critical reminder of the importance of working smoke alarms in residential settings, a service the Everett Fire Department offers to low-income residents and seniors.
