Crane Incident at Everett Mall

Everett, WALocal News

A crane incident at the Everett Mall injured two construction workers, prompting a response from the Everett Fire Department. Firefighters initially arrived due to a sprinkler alarm, only to discover the crane had tipped over, damaging a building under construction. One worker was treated at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Commenters speculated that the failure may have been due to improper use of counterweights or ground instability. A second crane arrived to assist with the removal of the damaged crane, which is anticipated to take several days.

The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office and Snohomish County PUD were present at the scene. The Washington State Department of Labor and Industry will conduct an investigation into the industrial accident. This incident highlights potential safety issues in construction practices.
