Northwest Civic Circle to host mental health movie screening and QA in January

Northwest Civic Circle will host a screening of "Captain Zero: Into the Abyss: Part II" at the Edmonds Theater on January 24. This 15-minute animated film depicts a Black teenager's mental health journey and his struggles with trauma and insecurities. The film made its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, showcasing bold visuals and engaging storytelling. NWCC founder Alicia Crank highlighted the significance of mental health discussions, especially within communities of color where stigma persists. The event will feature a Q&A panel with the film's producers and mental health advocates from Compass Health, encouraging dialogue around seeking support.
