State ferries to pay tribute to veterans with flags, whistle salute on Veterans Day

Edmonds, WALocal News

Washington State Ferries will honor Veterans Day by sounding whistles at 11:11 a. m. on November 11, recognizing the sacrifices of those who served in the U. S. Armed Forces.

Each vessel will display flags from the military branches, including the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force, and the Merchant Marine flag, along with the POW/MIA flag. This tribute acknowledges the significant presence of veterans in the WSF workforce, which includes roles on boats, at terminals, and in maintenance facilities. WSF Deputy Secretary Steve Nevey stated that the tribute reflects appreciation for veterans' dedication and skill. The event aims to strengthen community ties through recognition of their service. This initiative is part of broader efforts to honor military personnel across various sectors.

By commemorating Veterans Day, WSF reinforces its commitment to supporting local veterans. The tribute is a reminder of the ongoing contributions veterans make to society.
