Edmonds City Council completes 2026 budget work, sets stage for Dec. 9 vote

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds City Council approved a mid-biennial budget update on October 8, adding key positions to enhance city operations. This includes two analysts, two IT specialists, and a webmaster, with a final vote scheduled for December 9. Acting City Administrator Todd Tatum emphasized the necessity of restoring funding for a human resources analyst due to high staff turnover rates. Councilmember Chris Eck supported the proposal, linking it to a $14. 5 million levy up for voter approval on November 4.

If the levy fails, Mayor Mike Rosen plans to present a revised budget. The proposed administration management analyst aims to improve long-range planning and efficiency across departments. Tatum noted that the city lacks coherent Key Performance Indicators to measure success effectively. The meeting also marked a farewell to City Clerk Scott Passey, who served for 12 years before transitioning to a role in Kenmore.
