Edmonds City Council seeks 2025-2026 student representative

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds City Council is currently seeking applications for a student representative position, with a submission deadline of October 14 at 4 p. m. This opportunity allows local students to gain firsthand experience in city government, a tradition that dates back to the 1980s. Council President Neil Tibbott highlighted the importance of student perspectives in council discussions. The selected student will attend two regular Tuesday meetings and a monthly Council of the Whole meeting via Zoom, contributing to discussions without voting privileges.

Candidates must be under 21, live within Edmonds city limits, and be enrolled in any educational program, whether public or private. The term runs for one school year, beginning in October, with optional summer meetings available. Applications will be reviewed and appointed during the council meeting on October 28. This initiative aims to engage youth in local governance and encourage interest in civic matters.
