2 children killed in Carpentersville house fire

Chicago, ILLocal News

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Carpentersville on Sunday morning when a house fire claimed the lives of two young children. The fire erupted around 9:34 a. m. in the 1700 block of Kingston Circle, prompting a rapid response from firefighters who arrived within four minutes. Fire Chief Bill Anaszewicz reported that flames were already pouring out of the windows, and there were reports of individuals trapped inside.

While two other occupants were treated at a local hospital, two chose to refuse medical assistance at the scene. The tragic loss extended to two family dogs that also perished in the flames. Neighbors, including Yesenia Garcia, expressed their desperation to help, with Garcia attempting to enter the home before being stopped by authorities. The fire was brought under control within 25 minutes, but by then, the interior of the home had been severely damaged. Investigators are currently looking into the cause, which is believed to have started in the lower portion of the split-level house.
