Through Doughnate, Chicago Man Is Giving Pizzas To Neighbors In Need
Angelo Corso founded Doughnate Pizza in Chicago to address food insecurity after his father encouraged him to seek a different path than the family restaurant business. Since launching in 2022, Doughnate has donated over 36,000 meals by collaborating with more than 40 local pizzerias. Corso created a nonprofit that operates entirely on volunteer efforts, ensuring that every dollar contributed goes directly to providing meals. The organization also collects leftover pizzas from events, helping to reduce waste while delivering fresh food to shelters. At the recent Pizza City Fest Chicago, Doughnate distributed 70 pizzas and received a $5,000 donation, enhancing its capacity to serve the community.
Corso aims to offer diverse pizza styles and salad fixings, allowing shelter residents to enjoy a variety of culinary experiences. The nonprofit also mobilizes during natural disasters, drawing inspiration from humanitarian efforts. Through these initiatives, Doughnate fosters partnerships with local restaurants while addressing food insecurity effectively.
