Veterans Day Events across Massachusetts set to honor military servicemembers
Massachusetts prepares for Veterans Day with a series of events honoring military servicemembers across the state. Boston's State House will host a ceremony attended by Gov. Maura Healey and Veterans Services Secretary Jon Santiago, featuring military tributes and performances. Local parades will take place in towns including Westfield and Quincy, providing opportunities for community engagement. This year, the return of Private Alfred Thomas Langevin, identified after over 80 years, adds poignant significance to the observance.
His remains, missing since World War II, will be honored with a funeral procession and burial at Fairmount Cemetery. The Keohane Funeral Home will donate funds from the service to the New England Center and Home for Veterans, encouraging others to contribute as well. Volunteers in Jamaica Plain will also honor veterans by preparing meals for those in need. These events highlight Massachusetts' dedication to recognizing the sacrifices of its servicemembers.
