City of Boston and Partners Celebrate Start of Construction on Harvard and Standish Homes in Dorchester
The Harvard and Standish Homes development in Dorchester, initiated by Boston's Mayor's Office of Housing, aims to provide 22 income-restricted homeownership opportunities. This project, in partnership with TLee Development and CoEverything, focuses on promoting community stability and accessibility. Chief of Housing Sheila Dillon stated that it reflects the city's commitment to expanding homeownership across Boston. The development consists of two buildings featuring a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with some designed for accessibility. Residents will benefit from outdoor spaces and proximity to public transit, schools, and local businesses.
The project also includes retail space to enhance neighborhood walkability. Funding sources include the Mayor's Office of Housing, MassHousing, and federal and state tax credits. Mayor Wu's initiatives aim to streamline approval processes and maximize the use of city-owned land to increase affordable housing.
