Mayor Wu and the Office of Black Male Advancement Launch Fourth Annual Community Empowerment Grants
Mayor Michelle Wu announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Community Empowerment Grants, which will distribute $500,000 to nonprofits supporting men and boys in Boston. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $20,000 to enhance their capacity and impact. Since its inception in 2022, the program has awarded $2 million to over 150 community organizations, benefiting more than 9,000 men and boys. The grants focus on critical areas, including mentoring, economic inclusion, and mental health. Wu highlighted the importance of community-driven solutions in addressing local challenges.
The 2025 cycle will also provide capacity-building resources through the Black Male Advancement’s Capacity Building and Impact Institute. Applications are due by December 1, 2025, and interested parties can attend a virtual information session on November 13. This initiative reflects the city's ongoing commitment to equity and community empowerment.
