Boston, MALocal News

The completion of Four Corners Plaza marks a significant milestone in affordable housing efforts in Dorchester. The development, featuring 35 mixed-income rental homes and over 4,000 square feet of retail space, aims to enhance the local business district. Of the 35 apartments, 27 are affordable for households earning up to 60% of Area Median Income, while eight units cater to those earning up to 30% of AMI. Four apartments will provide permanent housing for formerly homeless residents, showcasing the project’s commitment to inclusivity. Chief Sheila Dillon highlighted the importance of affordable, energy-efficient homes near transit to support families.

Designed by DHK Architects, the project meets LEED Silver standards and is strategically located near public transit. Funding came from a mix of public and private sources, including state tax credits and financing from local banks. This initiative supports Mayor Wu's broader strategy to expand affordable housing citywide, demonstrating tangible progress in addressing housing needs in Boston.
