Police use drone to catch teen suspect who allegedly broke into dozens of cars

Hingham police arrested a Holbrook teen after he and an accomplice allegedly broke into about 60 cars overnight on Friday. Officers responded to a report of the break-ins on Pilgrim Road just before 1 a. m. , prompting a coordinated effort with Norwell police and a K-9 unit. They deployed a drone to locate the suspects, who fled when spotted.

Police apprehended a 17-year-old male, while the second suspect evaded capture. The teen faces charges of breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, and conspiracy, with police noting that stolen items included a laptop, car keys, and cash. An electric scooter was also reported stolen from a driveway. He was released to his parents and will appear in Hingham Juvenile Court at a later date. This incident highlights the ongoing issues of vehicle break-ins in local neighborhoods.
