N.H. police investigating crash that launched box truck into cluster of trees

Boston, MALocal News

A Brockton man, Anilton Resende Barros, suffered minor injuries when his box truck veered off Interstate 93 in New Hampshire and crashed into trees early Saturday morning. The State Police reported the incident occurred shortly before 4:30 a. m. near Exit 23 in New Hampton. During a preliminary investigation, officers determined that Barros failed to negotiate a curve, leading the truck to enter the median and strike an embankment before launching into a cluster of trees.

He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Cleanup efforts required the left lanes of I-93 north and south to close for about four hours, with all lanes reopening shortly before 9 a. m. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact Trooper John Zavala. This incident underscores the dangers of highway driving, particularly in adverse conditions.

Such accidents prompt ongoing discussions about roadway safety measures in New Hampshire.
