Auburn, WALocal News

Michael Peter Esposito, a 63-year-old man with a history of bank robberies, faces first-degree robbery charges for allegedly holding up an Umpqua Bank in Auburn at gunpoint. The robbery occurred on May 13, 2025, when he demanded cash while wearing a bright orange traffic vest. Detectives identified him through surveillance footage that highlighted his distinctive walk and attire. He was arrested on June 12, nearly a month after the incident, following a tip that led police to his address in Kent. Esposito has five prior felony convictions for robbery, prompting prosecutors to seek a $750,000 bail to ensure community safety.

They emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating that high bail and limited contact with the bank and teller are necessary. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is handling the case, with an arraignment scheduled for June 30, 2025. Esposito declined to provide any comments after his arrest.
