Auburn man charged with first degree murder in killing of wife, prosecutors say
Sayed Nazir Sadat, 37, has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing his wife, Geety Sadat, 31, in their Auburn apartment on November 23. Prosecutors claim the act was premeditated and occurred while their three children were present, leading to a domestic violence aggravator in the charges. Sadat called 911 to report the crime and was arrested at the scene, with his bail set at $3 million due to concerns about community safety and flight risk. This incident marks the thirteenth domestic violence homicide in King County this year, with twelve cases involving intimate partner violence. David Martin, Chair of the Domestic Violence Unit, highlighted the public safety crisis posed by domestic violence, stating, “Behind every statistic is a person whose life mattered.
” King County Prosecuting Attorney Leesa Manion noted that nearly 30 percent of adult felony cases in 2024 involve gender-based violence. The case is scheduled for arraignment on December 3, where Sadat will enter an initial plea. Authorities are calling for increased resources and awareness to combat domestic violence effectively.
