Auburn man arrested in 2023 felony hit-and-run motorcycle crash

On May 30, 2025, Gilbert E. Foster, 63, was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a motorcyclist on State Route 18 nearly two years prior. The incident took place on June 24, 2023, when a beige sedan drove the wrong way, leading to the motorcyclist's fall. First responders discovered the female motorcyclist on the ground with a severe leg injury, necessitating immediate medical attention. A WSP trooper applied a tourniquet before she was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

The case remained open as detectives worked diligently to identify both the suspect and the vehicle involved. Foster’s arrest brings renewed attention to the importance of accountability in traffic incidents, particularly hit-and-run cases. Felony charges against him reflect the gravity of the offense and the impact on the victim's life.
