Major road closures will commence in downtown Auburn on June 2, 2025, impacting key streets as part of a comprehensive infrastructure improvement project. East Main Street and Auburn Avenue will be closed until the end of August, but businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the construction. The City of Auburn has implemented dedicated parking and wayfinding signage to assist pedestrians and drivers. Senior Project Engineer Matt Larson highlighted the project’s significance for revitalizing downtown and its long-term benefits for future development. The initiative includes upgrading utilities, reconstructing sidewalks, and enhancing pedestrian safety with improved crossings.

Preliminary work has already begun, including the demolition of a vacant building. This project also lays the groundwork for a future performing arts theater, currently in the design phase. Work will occur daily from 7 a. m. to 7 p.
