Election season kicks off as 11 candidates file to run for Auburn Mayor, City Council positions in 2025

The 2025 election season kicked off on May 9, with 11 candidates filing to run for Auburn's Mayor and City Council. Incumbent Mayor Nancy Backus is seeking reelection, joined by council members Kate Baldwin and Lisa Stirgus, who were recently appointed. Former Councilmember James Jeraraj aims to return to the council in Position 6. The Primary Election is scheduled for August 5, and the top two vote-getters will proceed to the General Election on November 4.
