The City of Auburn will begin a significant Downtown Infrastructure Improvements Project this June, starting with construction on June 2. Full road closures will impact East Main Street and Auburn Avenue, expected to last through August. City officials are focused on maintaining access to local businesses and residences during the project. "We’re committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring continued support for our downtown businesses," the City stated. The improvements will include replacing aging water, sewer, and stormwater utilities, along with road and sidewalk reconstruction.

Enhancements will also improve pedestrian accessibility and upgrade street lighting. The project lays the groundwork for future developments, such as a planned performing arts theater. Construction will occur during daytime hours, from 7 a. m. to 7 p.
