Washington State Patrol investigating fatal motorcycle crash on SR167 near Auburn

On October 1, 2024, a motorcycle crash on southbound SR 167 near Auburn left a 66-year-old man from Shoreline dead. The collision, which occurred around 2:12 p. m. , involved the motorcyclist losing control as he merged onto the freeway, colliding with a southbound Ford Fiesta. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene, despite his compliance with helmet regulations.

The driver of the Fiesta, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained no injuries. The Washington State Patrol is conducting an investigation, ruling out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash. The roadway remained blocked for over three hours, causing significant traffic delays. Both vehicles were removed by Rick's Towing, and both sustained reportable damage. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Washington State Patrol as they continue their investigation.
