Suspect arrested after 103 MPH chase that started in Federal Way ends in Auburn

A high-speed chase that began in Federal Way ended with the arrest of a suspect in Auburn after reaching speeds of 103 mph on I-5. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, April 25, 2025, when the Washington State Patrol (WSP) attempted to stop a BMW. Although troopers initially chose not to pursue, they later tracked the vehicle with an aircraft named “Smokey. ” The aircraft helped locate the suspect as he drove into Kent and Auburn at high speeds. Troopers successfully deployed spike strips, causing the vehicle to stop, but the driver attempted to flee on foot.

He was apprehended shortly after and booked into King County Jail on suspicion of felony eluding. Police pursuits of speeding vehicles have raised concerns in Washington state, emphasizing the need for effective law enforcement strategies. Authorities are reviewing the response protocols for high-speed chases to ensure public safety.
