Food Trucks are hitting the streets of Auburn this Spring and Summer

Downtown Auburn will welcome a variety of food trucks every Tuesday from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. starting April 29 and continuing through August.

This initiative, organized by the City of Auburn in partnership with the Washington State Food Truck Association, aims to address community demands for more lunchtime options and local events. Mayor Nancy Backus emphasized that the program offers a great reason for residents and visitors to explore downtown while enjoying diverse culinary delights. The pilot program features a rotating selection of licensed food trucks, which are permitted for health and safety, to operate in carefully chosen public spaces. Lori Johnson from the WSFTA highlighted the economic opportunities food trucks provide for entrepreneurs from various backgrounds, while also enhancing urban culinary culture. This initiative supports Auburn’s strategic goal of promoting small businesses and community engagement.

Kent Police arrest suspect after high-speed chase and pipe bomb seizure

A 26-year-old man from Auburn was arrested following a high-speed chase that spanned Kent and SeaTac. The pursuit ended with a PIT maneuver and spike strips after the suspect's vehicle was linked to an earlier incident involving a gun. Police later discovered a homemade pipe bomb in the car.
