Auburn City Council appoints Lisa Stirgus to fill Position 6 vacancy

Lisa Stirgus has been appointed to fill the vacant Position 6 on the Auburn City Council, following the resignation of Larry Brown earlier this year. Selected from a competitive pool of 45 applicants, Stirgus expressed her enthusiasm for the role, stating her commitment to representing the city's residents. With over 20 years of experience in financial services and nonprofit leadership, she brings a wealth of expertise to the council. Her current roles include serving on the Green River College Foundation Board and co-chairing the Youth Justice Subcommittee. Mayor Nancy Backus commended Stirgus for her transformational leadership skills, while Deputy Mayor Cheryl Rakes emphasized the advantages of her financial background for the city's revitalization projects.

Stirgus will leave her position on the Auburn Independent Salary Commission upon being sworn in. Originally from Reno, Nevada, she has lived in Auburn since 2018, where she enjoys family time and cooking. Stirgus' appointment is seen as a positive step for the city as it navigates economic development challenges.
