UPDATE Police seeking publics help locating domestic violence suspect previously thought to have perished in Auburn fire

Auburn, WALocal News

Kent Police are actively seeking the public's help in locating Avon A. Cobb, a 51-year-old suspect wanted for domestic violence assault involving a firearm and felony eluding. The incident escalated dramatically when Cobb fled after allegedly assaulting a family member, prompting a police pursuit. Initially, it was feared that Cobb had perished in a fire that consumed a building where he was hiding, but investigators now believe he escaped prior to or during the blaze. The police had engaged in lengthy negotiations to encourage his surrender, but Cobb remained uncooperative during the standoff.

After the fire was extinguished, a thorough search revealed Cobb was not inside, leading to a reevaluation of the situation. The Kent Police Department has resumed control of the investigation and is committed to tracking down Cobb. They have asked the community for assistance, emphasizing that any information could be crucial. Those with knowledge of Cobb's whereabouts are encouraged to call the police tip line or 911 for immediate assistance.
