The Sound Transit Board of Directors has appointed Dow Constantine as the new CEO, effective April 1, 2025, with a base salary of $450,000. Constantine, who has been King County Executive since 2009, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served on the Sound Transit Board since 2006 and as its Chair since 2023. His selection followed a comprehensive search process that evaluated 60 applicants and included multiple interviews. Board Chair Dave Somers highlighted that Constantine's deep understanding of Sound Transit will enable him to address the urgent need for a regional mass transit system. In his acceptance, Constantine expressed gratitude and a commitment to advancing transit solutions that benefit the Central Puget Sound region.

His previous leadership at King County Metro, which was recognized as the Best Large Transit Agency in North America, underscores his capability to manage complex transit challenges. The region faces ongoing issues such as post-COVID recovery and workforce shortages, which Constantine is poised to tackle head-on. His vision aims to not only improve transit efficiency but also to enhance the overall economic and environmental health of the region.
