Level 3 Flood Warning Issued for Green River

The King County Flood Warning Center has taken significant action, issuing a Phase 4 flood alert for Issaquah Creek and a Phase 3 alert for the Green River due to rising water levels. As of 1:30 a. m. on February 6, Issaquah Creek exceeded the critical 9. 0-foot mark, indicating a major flood event and resulting in multiple road closures.

Similarly, the Green River's flow surpassed 9,000 cubic feet per second shortly after midnight, leading to expected flooding in various locations upstream of Auburn. The Cedar River is also approaching a Phase 3 alert, with current flows at 4,580 CFS, threatening to overtop roads and potentially trap residents in neighborhoods. The Flood Warning Center, which opened on February 5, is dedicated to monitoring river conditions and will provide ongoing updates as the situation develops. Residents are urged to utilize the KC Flood Alerts system for customized notifications about flooding risks in their areas. This proactive communication aims to keep the community informed and prepared for possible evacuations.
