Teen suspect charged in Auburn murder, alleged attempted robbery

Zaire H. M. Orr, an 18-year-old, faces serious charges of first-degree murder and attempted robbery in connection with a deadly shooting during a marijuana deal in Auburn on February 4, 2025. Prosecutors allege that Orr, along with two juvenile accomplices, deceived McKinley Williams, 18, and a 17-year-old into meeting at an apartment complex parking lot under the pretense of selling marijuana. The situation escalated into an armed robbery, with Williams tragically shot in the head while trying to escape.

The 17-year-old, unharmed, called 911 immediately and attempted to aid Williams, who died from his injuries the next day. Additionally, a 16-year-old accomplice has been charged with first-degree murder, highlighting the serious nature of youth involvement in violent crime. Both suspects could face life in prison if convicted, highlighting the severe consequences of their actions. Due to concerns about their flight risk, prosecutors have requested electronic home monitoring for Orr, who has ties to other states.
